TAP is one of the most popular styles of dance in musical theatre. Students will learn basic tap steps, rhythms, and combinations—all while building coordination, musicality, and confidence. In a session of Tap, students will be able to:

Tap steady beats and repeat simple rhythmic patterns using their feet

Name and demonstrate basic tap steps by name

Improve balance and body control by maintaining posture and technique

Increase performance quality with a synchronized tap routine in a group setting

BROADWAY BOOTCAMP

BROADWAY BOOTCAMP is for the young performer ready to become a ‘triple threat’! In this high-energy class, performers will sing, dance, and act their way through favorite Broadway-style songs and scenes. In a session of Broadway Bootcamp, students will be able to:

Participate in group singing by matching pitch and proper vocal technique

Name and demonstrate foundational dance steps

Perform memorized lines or lyrics from a short script and/or song
-
Improve stage presence and confidence by learning musical theatre production numbers as an ensemble

ACTING

Get ready for the drama in ACTING! Young performers will explore acting for the stage through creative games, storytelling, role play, improv, and short scenes. In a session of Acting, students will be able to:

Participate in structured improv activities

ART CREATION STATION

Create masterpieces ART CREATION STATION! In this hands-on art class, young artists will explore their creativity through painting, drawing, sculpting, and sensory play. In a session of Art Creation Station, students will be able to:

Create original artwork and make artistic choices that tell a story or expresses a personal idea

Identify and name at least 5 basic elements of art (e.g., line, shape, color, texture, space)

Recognize or describe the work of featured famous artists or art styles

Present an original piece of art for MTP’s Art Gallery at the end of the course

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences

KIDS CAST: GROUP VOICE LESSONS is additional rehearsal for actors enrolled in MTP PRESENTS production series! A professional Vocal Coach will guide students through the process of getting to know their voice while fine tuning music covered in weekly rehearsals. In a session of Group Voice Lessons, students will be able to:

Practice correct singing posture and breath support

Improve pitch accuracy, vowel shaping, and diction

Sing in unison and in simple harmony

Identify key musical symbols, rhythms, and notes in sheet music

Perform with expressive dynamics and facial expression in a showcase presentation

This course is perfect for beginners wanting to explore new styles or actors wanting to hone their skills for a successful journey in musical theatre. In a session of Triple Threat Dance, students will be able to:

HIP HOP is a high energy course infusing the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. This class encourages students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. In a session of Hip Hop, students will be able to:

Stay on beat and identify changes of tempo with music in activities involving counts or music cues

Demonstrate and identify foundational hip hop moves

Use freestyle movement during structured dance games and choreography
