MUSIC THEATRE PHILLY, a non-profit training ground for Musical Theatre and Dance in Center City, is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and professional Teaching Artists and Designers.

At MTP, our goal is to create a professional training ground for young artists by cultivating a creative, encouraging, and disciplined environment, while maintaining the integrity of Musical Theatre. Our programs are designed to build confidence, respect, and teamwork, while helping each individual find their personal voice through artistic training and community engagement.

PROGRAM MANAGER

 

Overview: The Program Manager supports Music Theatre Philly and its executive team to ensure the quality of all MTP programming. They are responsible for daily operations including studio upkeep, communication with students, families and staff, processing student enrollment and payment, and other general administrative tasks. Ideal candidates have worked in theater education and/or theater production. 

 

Job Duties : 

  • Ensure MTP staff, students and families are adequately prepared for each session. 

  • Facilitate communication between MTP clients and teaching artists.

  • Coordinate the studio’s schedule including classes, rehearsals, rentals, birthday parties and other activities. 

  • Staff desk shifts, opening and closing the studio during operational hours as determined by the administrative coverage schedule. 

  • Ensure teaching artists and directors have adequate materials and supplies for all MTP Programs within the approved budget.

  • Work with Executive Director & Artistic Director to outline and implement MTP protocol regarding Teaching Artists, Student/Parent Relations, Day to Day Operations and COVID Safety protocol.

  • Between scheduled semesters, organize class rosters and other materials for teaching staff.

  • Attend MTP executive meetings as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

*The Program Manager may also be assigned other duties depending on their professional background and interests. These duties will be included in the total compensation for the candidate. These duties may include: 

  • Teaching MTP classes, camps, and workshops.

  • Working on MTP Presents productions as director, stage manager, designer or other production position. 

  • Coordinating marketing materials and social media content. 

  • Supporting fundraising efforts through grant writing or event planning. 

 

Ideal candidate has the following skills: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative setting. 

  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office.

  • Passion for theater, working with young people and Philadelphia.

 

Job Status: Part Time (20-25 hours/week)

 

Salary: $30 - $35/hour

MUSIC THEATRE PHILLY strives to maintain a family-friendly and inclusive vibe for all of our Teaching Artists, Students, and Families. Summer Camps are expected to run June 13-September 2, 2022 (12 one-week sessions), running Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, with optional Before/After Care. A typical day includes instruction in voice, acting, and dance, as well as theatre games, crafting, and more, with breaks for snack and lunch.
